The recent term in the world wide web is the web 2.0,which is used for advanced Internet technology and applications including blogs, wikis, RSS and social bookmarking.In simple terms it is associated with web applications that has the ability to share information and a user-centered design.
The concept of web 2.0 initially began with a conference between giants O'Reilly and MediaLive International.In the conference it was decided that the web has secured an important place than it had previously so Web 2.0 was born.

Characteristics of web 2.0

Web 2.0 had several characteristics of it's own and these are explained as follows:-

1- It allows users to do something extra than just retrieve information.

2- Web 2.0 site allows users to own data site and not only that they can
exercise control over that data.

3- It provides a rich user experience.

4- It has a dynamic content.

5- It is according to the web standards and has scalability.

6- It has collective intelligence.

7- It has the ability to create and update content

8- It uses syndication technology to notify users of content changes.An example of syndication technology is RSS.

9- It categorizes content according to tags.

10- It provides Open Data/Information API’s.

Advantages of Web 2.0

Web 2.0 offers many advantages,which are given below:-

1- Web 2.0 offers information to be pulled from a number of different places.

2- Information can be personalised according to a specific user.

3- Information flows freely on web 2.0

4- It has got a reduced risk.

5- With it you can have a closer relationship with your customers.
